Accept Online Donations

Due to the recent spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) churches across the nation are being forced to shut their physical doors for the benefit of flattening the curve. While some churches may already offer online giving or online streaming of their services there are still many more that are scrambling to act in time and come up with ways to move their church services online and continue to receive financial support. This guide is to serve as a self-service guide on how to apply for EasyTithe to receive free online donations tools and how to accept donations on your website.

Due to timeliness of the article, I attempt to be straightforward and will be glossing over many of the powerful tools and resources you can employ for enhanced online giving for the strict purpose of getting your online giving up and running with as few steps as possible.

Checklist before you start.

Note: For the rest of the article we will refer to you or your as an authorized agent who may open up financial accounts on your church’s behalf. This may be a treasurer, warden, pastor/priest, please defer to your own church’s practice as if you are opening up a bank account.

In order to apply for EasyTithe, you will need the following documents in order to validate your church’s identity.

Organization Information

  • Church’s Legal Name
  • (Optional) DBA Name
  • Church’s Address
  • Church’s EIN Number
  • Church’s Routing and Checking Number (Where donations will be made to)
  • Your Name
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your Address

Picture Documents

Note: All supporting pictures must be under 3 MBs or else they will not upload. If your photo is too big you will need to compress it online tool for compressing pngs and jpgs.

  • Picture of your church’s 503c filing documents.
  • Picture of a voided check.
  • Picture of your driver’s license.

Let’s Get Started

1. First, go to EasyTithe Signup and fill out their Start Now Form. Enter 30dayDS for promo code and choose the $29 /month + 2.6%/txn plan. Click Start My Free Trial to proceed.

Note it is vitally important you use 2020DS at checkout or you may be charged for there services. Not 30dayDS.

2. Next it will prompt you to choose a password. Simply choose a memorable but safe password and confirm it. Click Change Password to proceed.

3. Click Complete Merchant App

4. Fill out your church’s information. This includes the legal name of the church, church’s address, and church’s EIN. When complete click Next.

5. In the next step fill out your church’s bank account information, your personal contact information and SSN. When complete click Next.

6. Step three you will need to upload your three supporting documents (Picture of your church’s 503c filing documents. Picture of a voided check. Picture of your driver’s license). When complete click Submit.

  • Click Select A file type.
  • Click choose file and navigate to where it is held on your device. (Note the file name will not display when you select the file but know that it’s there)
  • Click Upload
  • Repeat for all three supporting documents.

That’s it you’ve applied for EasyTithe now simply allow 24-72hrs for your application to be processed.

Start Accepting Donations

Once your account has been approved there are two easy ways to start collecting donations. Embed form to website or Share donation link.

Add Form to Site

1.Login to your EayTithe account and click on Forms in the left hand menu.

2. By default a online giving form should have already been configured for you. Next to your form’s name are three dots for the action menu, click it and click view embed code. Finally click Copy Embed Code.

3. This step will vary widely depending on your website type (WordPress, SquareSpace, Wix, Weebly, etc…), however you should be able to edit any page on your website and paste the embed code from the previous step. Once you save the page the donation form should appear on your website.

The following example shows the code in an HTML Code gutenberg block.

Share Donation Link

1.Login to your EayTithe account and click on Forms in the left hand menu.

2. By default a online giving form should have already been configured for you. Next to your form’s name are three dots for the action menu, click it and click visit direct link. Simply copy the link of the page you were directed to and share it freely on social media, newsletters, or more and people can donate to your church directly on this page.

Done Done
